Our cat Falkor is usually a pretty friendly guy. He's big, fluffy and curious. But, since he is not allowed outside EVER (he once ran away and didn't come back for seven months...), he often spends a lot of time by the back sliding glass door looking at the trees, birds and grass in the backyard.
Every once in a while, he sees something that totally stresses out his two-and-a-half-year-old heart. This happened yesterday afternoon.

SEVEN MONTHS!!!!! THAT IS CRAZY!!! I can't believe you got him back safe and sound. THAT BOGGLES MY MIND!!!
I am amazed that Falkor stayed put even with the door wide open. Our cat would have gone scat in seconds! I'm with Paige. 7 months? That is completely NUTS!
Well, you can't see in the video, but there's a screen door there. That's why Falkor didn't bolt.
We also have a cat-free zone in our house: The dining room and living room area. There are doors blocking access to the rest of the house, and they are almost always shut.
Falkor was gone for so long, I thought he was dead or far off gone. Emily suggested that perhaps someone else adopted him. Turns out, that's EXACTLY what happened. I found out that a kid across the street had taken in him and, I believe, renamed him Theo. One day, I saw Falkor outside and followed him. This guy let him come and go as he pleased, so I figured it was only a matter of time.
I think the clincher was that we still had Falkor's sister, Ambrosius, at the time. One day, when Ambrosius got out, we went to look for her... and Emily found Falkor. She picked him up and we've had him back ever since. Ambrosius came back in the morning.
Ambrosius couldn't handle living with Falkor and Mercury once we moved to Hillsboro, so we ended up giving her to my old roommate who really loved her anyway. She is now a wild bird/mouse hunter living it up at his house in Springfield!
